LED HEADLIGHTS

 

For the past few years HID's have ruled the market when it comes to increasing the overall brightness of your headlights.  The problem with HID's is they have proven to be unreliable and prone to issues over their lifetime.  Replacing ballasts and bulbs proved to be a very common and annoying occurence with most HID systems. 

 

LED headlights are just as bright and more reliable than HID's.  LED's bring several advantages to the lighting industry, including high efficacy and durability.  They have superior life over other lamp sources and their required maintenance is greatly reduced. This translates into energy savings, maintenance savings, and environmental sustainability.  With 2500 lumens of output you should never have to worry about visibility again.

 

Putco uses Cree XM-L2 LED's in their LED headlights which are the same LED's that can be found in many home products today.  Cree LED Lighting products are designed to last as long as 50,000 hours.  Incredible longevity means that you might never change another light again.  What is 50,000 hours? It is 50 times the life of a typical incandescent bulb and 5 times the lifetime of an average compact fluorescent lamp (CFL).  In fact, if you ran one Cree lamp for 6 hours per day every day, it would last for nearly 23 years. That is five presidential elections, time for a home remodeling, and the expanse of an entire generation.  The production and use of LEDs requires significantly less energy than incandescents or CFLs.  All Cree LED Lighting products are free of mercury and other toxic materials, a clear win for the environment.

 

LED headlights are available in two different styles and made in a wide variety of sizes for plug-and-play applications for most vehicles.   The most common style offers a solid aluminum design with a built in micro fan that provides internal overheating protection and no need for an external ballast.   In more restrictive or compact spaces you can use the new Nite-Lux series which offers a 40% reduction in size and offers a flexible copper cloth heat sink that eliminates the larger fan style heat sink and can be manipulated into more compact places.
